Alaska USA Federal Credit Union – 1996 to present

We were invited to bid on the construction of a new branch in Wasilla by Cole & Thompson Architects in June, 1996, and were the successful low bidder. However, the bid amount was significantly over budget. Working closely with the architect, we were able to value-engineer the project for a savings of over 15%. Just as the project started, a major change order was requested by the owner to add approximately 1,000 square feet to the building. Again, working with the architect, we were able to incorporate the additional space into the original design of the building with no loss of time to the project schedule.

This project was the beginning of a close relationship that has endured for the last eleven years. Since that first project in Wasilla, we have gone on to build branches in Soldotna, Eagle River, Homer, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Palmer, Muldoon. We have gone back to the Wasilla and Soldotna projects and made significant additions in recent years.

In addition to construction of new facilities we have done major renovations to twelve existing Alaska USA branches. The relationship of trust has developed to the point where we have a long-term agreement with Alaska USA for all miscellaneous construction projects. We have completed over 300 individual work orders to date, ranging in value from $350 to $300,000.
