Unalaska Airport Sand Storage Building, Unalaska, AK, 1997-98

This project consists of a pre-engineered steel addition to the maintenance building at the Unalaska airport, for the storage and distribution of urea and sand, as well as a mechanic bay and a snow removal equipment bay. The owner is the State of Alaska DOT&PF. The bid format was a design-build RFP, on which we submitted the successful proposal. Forming a team, we designed this project in the summer of 1997, fabricated, shipped and delivered materials in September and constructed the project by the end of December, despite the worst series of Aleutian storms in 20 years. Final grading was were completed in the spring of 1998.
